Congratulation to Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam on winning a Golden Globe® for "Ordinary Love" - "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom"

The whole concept became a reality with the support of so many people. Harvey Weinstein was behind the idea from the start after meeting the back way back in 1981.

Bono said in an interview  “Harvey is remarkable and has the same fire in his belly now that he did when we first met” In order to make this single possible U2 had to push back their album keeping millions of fans on hold as they accepted toe offer to compose and perform the song for the film.

Bono took inspiration from Nelson Mandela's letters to Winnie Mandela when he was in prison. Harvey had to wait a bit this was not a song that could come to fruition over night and required the band to put forth some thought and make it an unforgettable tribute to a wonderful man.

The song became number one in 15 countries around the world without any promotion.

Hollywood: It was widely reported that U2 was in town over the weekend working on some super special project that could relate to a Superbowl commercial.

In a star filled Hollywood hotel ballroom, Bono, The Edge and 300 other guests attended Sean Penn's third annual Help Haiti Home benefit, which raised nearly $6 million for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.

The surprise of the evening was a performance by U2. The Edge and Bono performed an acoustic set with Anaelle Jean-Pierre and followed up the evening with three songs.

It is hard to keep a secret in Hollywood however; this kept tight under wraps. Did the Hollywood elite get a chance to hear three band new songs? No sorry three songs where Hallelujah, Desire and Vertigo.  We expect to see today photos and maybe some audio from the evening. We can say one thing for sure. U2 marketing machine is under way, watch for something big to hit the streets very soon.

U2 in Santa Monica

U2TOURFANS Editor Speaks Out

U2 fans around the world today I am writing to you directly as the Editor-In-Chief of U2TOURFANS.

I want to be very clear on a couple of matters that have happened over the last few hours. We have a new staff writer to the team that while doing his data collection and sourcing for a story we posted today failed to provide the credits to the sources of the story.

This is not acceptable to me and is not what you have come to expect from our site.

We have build this site on trust and respect for the other U2 blogger sites and the community as a whole. I expect that our team would be fair, honest about the news collection and sourcing of information.

The story had sources from social media and other blog sites and in the end was a collection of sources. (Informal and Formal)  We should have credited the other blog sites period. Posting credits when they are due is the not only a requirement it is a standard expectation.

I will not allow people to write for us or post for us without crediting the source if a source has used to provide you the news. I have asked our team member to not post any story without a peer review this will help him to understand the proper way to credit stories as well as give us a chance to check the story prior to posting.

No story is bigger than our creditability with you the fan.

U2 Super Bowl Commerical

The boys have been busy this week. As we reported earlier rumors had the boys on the other side of the world.

However U2 has spent most of the week in Santa Monica shooting a video that will become part of a new U2 commercial that will air during the Super Bowl.

U2.com members may be able to catch a longer clip on line ( that's yet to be confirmed)

Sirius Radio had a report this week that U2 will premiere a new song as well as announcement of the release date of the new album.

Branding and Marketing, this is an area that U2 has always found a good partner to team up with as they release big projects. Look towards Amazon, NetFlix, Crackle or even Google to step into the mix and become a partner.

If you have breaking U2 news send it to our news desk and we will confirm your story prior to publishing

Note from Editor-in-Chief Dre:  its seems that one of our fellow U2 blogger sites believes that a member from our team ( Chad Taylor) has taken an excerpts from their article. The story was not widely publicized and information gathered from the story was collected via public social media tools as well as resources that share information with us. However in the interest of good community standing I feel that since the other site broke the story and we simply chased down leads to put our story out we can not take credit for the story in whole. We are trusted to provide news and information and as such we are all to be held to a high standard for reporting those stories to you.  No story is bigger than our creditability with you the fan. Therefore I have asked that we place the URL of the other story within this story and thus providing credit to them.

U2 News Alert

A blogger in "The Province" has suggested that U2 would be Victoria next month for a normal pre-tour rehearsals  However our sources have suggested that nothing is set in stone and that while the build could be available no one from management has contacted them.

We even checked in with some crew that we know would be supporting the rehearsals, "Heck I would be fully engaged and aware and as of now I know nothing of the sort."  Victoria really would not be on the bands radar however consider all the changes anything is possible. Right now we have to say its a rumor  and watch for more to come.

Bono and Edge Accept Sonny Bono Visionary Award

Saturday Night Bono and The Edge attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Attending the event to accept the Sonny Bono Visionary Award, which acknowledged their major humanitarian work as well as their iconic musical contributions to the world.

The award was well timed as, like the rest of the honorees, they also have a song that is making waves this awards season. The band, and particularly Bono, had a long friendship with Nelson Mandela — who died December 5 — and their work in the anti-apartheid movement goes back to their beginnings as a band in the 1970s. And now they have written a song, “Ordinary Love”  for the film of his life story, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. The Weinstein Company is hoping it will get the Oscar recognition that has eluded U2 before. They currently have a Golden Globe nomination for it, their sixth, with one win for 2002′s “The Hands That Built America” from Gangs Of New York.
