Bono May Be Writing Song For The Spice Girls

News

To amp people up for the group's reunion tour, it appears that the Spice Girls may have enlisted the help of Bono. According to British paper The Mirror, Bono will be writing a song for the Spice Girls' forthcoming greatest hits album, which should coincide with the tour.

A "source" said:

There's been a bit of unease as to how the album will perform and if there's still a solid Spice Girls' fan base out there.

However Bono's involvement has lifted the whole camp and he's delighted to have been asked and add his experience.

You can't even make a joke about this, because who even knows what that collaboration could possibly sound like? Uno, dos, tres, catorce, zig-a-zig ah!

The Black Eyed Peas are going to get the party started for U2 this fall! The "Boom Boom Pow" band has signed on to be the opening act for the Irish rockers for five shows during the American leg of their world tour. "It's going to be amazing," says Peas front woman Fergie. "I remember going to see U2 in high school, so now to be on that stage, it's going to be challenging. We definitely have to bring it at those shows."

Mystery behind U2_360 Twitter Account

The mystery behind the twitter account that just happened to start posting photos while the boys where touring in France this week. Some of the images suggest that it could be "The Edge" that's posting them. Others suggest that it might be some one from the tour shooting and delay posting them.

Ether way the boys are out and about and lets hope they throw us a couple of great photos from their brand new Blackberry Bolds - Using twitterberry -

New Year's Day (1983)

New Year's Day (1983)

This song, inspired by the solidarity movement in Poland, reached number two on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. It was also the first U2 video to get major airplay on MTV, giving the band the exposure that would get them named "Band of the Eighties" by Rolling Stone magazine just two years later. During live shows, Edge takes control on this song, playing guitar and keyboard simultaneously in parts and also singing backup vocals.

Gloria (1981)

Gloria (1981)

No, it's not a cover of fellow Irishman Van Morrison's 1960s hit. This one comes from U2's sophomore album, October, which was heavy-laden with references to religion and spirituality. Bono has said he had a difficult time writing the lyrics, so he turned it into a psalm, complete with verses in Latin. The music is quite edgy considering the subject matter, which is what makes it classic U2.

Sunday Bloody Sunday (1983)

Sunday Bloody Sunday (1983)

From the War album, "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is a powerhouse in the U2 canon, performed on every major tour since its debut. It's a classic U2 protest song about the troubles in Northern Ireland. Larry's militaristic drumming and Edge's abrasive guitar drive the song, while Bono's powerful lyrics cry out "How long, how long must we sing this song?"

The song, which reached number seven on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart in the 1980s, has now become a global plea to end the violence that threatens the world today.

The Space Ship has landed !

U2 and their “space ship” continue to bring songs and spectacular to Europe. The band played in Milan last night to much fanfare and the usual splendor the tour has displayed so far.

The bulk of the setlist has pretty much remained the same since opening night in Barcelona. However, “Electrical Storm” didn’t make the cut in Milan, but “Party Girl” stayed in the show.

The concert was somewhat of a family affair. Bono’s daughter Eve was onstage during “Party Girl” which was fitting as it was her birthday. Bono told the crowd as he introduced his daughter that she is “not the shy one in the family” and that “she’s no longer a little girl but older and a beauty”. The audience sang “Happy Birthday” as Larry poured champagne.

It was also a “starry" night, as fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana attended the show, as did actors Woody Harrelson and Gael Garcia Bernal. Luciano Pavarotti’s widow, Nicoletta Mantovani was also there.

The memory of another entertainer who is no longer among us also took center stage. “Angel of Harlem” was dedicated to Michael Jackson, and as the song ended, it moved into “Stand By Me”.

The U2 space ship lands in Paris this weekend.

Tomorrow (1981)

Tomorrow (1981)

Most U2 lyrics are pretty heavy. But with "Tomorrow," from October, Bono was truly speaking from the heart. When he was 14, his mother suffered a brain hemorrhage at her father's funeral and died a few days later. Bono would later state that the melancholy lyrics to "Tomorrow" were a description of her funeral.
