F Bomb and U2 all in 1 night

Did the f-word get dropped on Saturday Night Live tonight? It sure sounded that way. At about 12:42 Eastern Time, during a sketch called “Biker Chick Chat,” new cast member Jenny Slate seemed to say the word that got SNL cast member Charles Rocket in trouble in 1981.

The sketch included host Megan Fox and Kristen Wiig as “biker chicks” along with Slate. All of them were peppering their mock-tough-talk with the phrase “frickin’” but Slate appeared to say, “I f—in’ love you for that” instead.

Seth Meyers could be seen hugging Slate onstage as Fox closed out the show by introducing U2 for a third and final song.

Here’s hoping no punishment is meted out to the new cast member for what was clearly just a slip of the tongue.

Video below. Warning: language:

U2 performed three songs on air, after a coupe of SNL skits. Once the boadcast was over they did play a fourth song for the studio. This is a mini set list.

  1. Breathe
  2. Moment of Surrender
  3. Ultra Violet (Light My Way)
  4. With or Without You ( Off air)
Twitter conversations suggested that most people where surprised that the band did not play their latest single, Crazy Tonight. Sound checks suggested something different. Crazy Tonight and Angel of Harlem. ( Well the boys switched it up) Ultra was played as the credit rolled.

84,472 concert goers break the record

More than 84,472 concert goers turn out for Thursday’s show

U2 blasted the Giants Stadium attendance record Thursday night with 84,472 fans coming out to see the Irish rock band’s sold out show. The previous record was held by Pope John Paul II after his visit to the stadium in 1995 (82,948).

The significance of the historic feat was not lost on lead singer Bono.

“News just in,” said Bono from the stage near the end of the night. “We’ve broken every record for attendance in this stadium — including the Pope. Sorry Bruce — we know it’s your birthday and all.”

Later, Bono added, “I know they’re knocking this place down … we probably won’t be here again before the wrecking ball but it was a magic place for us as well as the Giants.”

U2 360 Tour continues with dates in Washington, Charlottesville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, Dallas, Houston, Norman, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Los Angeles before finishing the year off at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium.

Meadowlands Clogged

Editor note from Dre: We saw this story had to laugh a bit. First main stream media once again looking for drama, any kind of drama, how can we create it, find it, make it happen. Give us a break if your going to a sold out concert you can expect to wait a bit for a train. Hell do you not remember he Madoma Concert, Prince Concert or the Police Concert at the square ( New Yorkers know the place) Its just common expectations. So why focus on it. So how was the show ? Did you get what you came for ?

After U2 concert, Meadowlands train service clogged for hours, fans say

U2 guitarist the Edge, left, singer Bono, drummer Larry Mullen Jr., and bassist Adam Clayton performing during their 360(degrees) Tour at Giants Stadium. EAST RUTHERFORD — Forty minutes into his wait for a train to take him to the sold-out U2 concert at Giants Stadium on Wednesday night, Steve Brauntuch still hadn’t found what he was looking for.

The Manhattan resident and Tenafly native hoped to hop on a  train at NJ Transit’s Secaucus station at 7:30 p.m. to catch the Irish supergroup when it hit the stage at 9.

What he found next was chaos.

Hundreds of people were pressed together like cattle as they jostled for position to buy tickets or board trains.

“There was no instruction, there was no announcement, there was no security,” said Brauntuch, a veteran concert-goer of Giants Stadium shows. “It was a mess.”

He said he wasn’t able get the next train until 8:15.
