Bono's Plane Loses Tailgate
Bono's chartered flight to Germany had a bit of excitement as the plane lost a flap on approach to the airport in Berlin Schönefeld early Wednesday.
Spokesmen Ralf Kinkel declined to call it a crash as several media and blog sites reported.
The private plane was on approach to the airport Schönefeld. Aboard the plane were two crew members and five passengers. Among them Bono. Suddenly, the Learjet 60 with the registration D-CGEO reported the missing tailgate which was 100 centimeters wide. The tailgate must have gone down in the surrounding areas.
According to airport personnel, pilots were able to land the plane safely around 11.26 clock in Schönefeld.
The people on board were in good health, said the operator of Schönefeld Airport confirmed the incident. According to a spokesman the plane was never in a crash risk as reported by several media sources and blog sites around the world.
U2 are invited to the Bambi Awards in Berlin tomorrow, Thursday. The rest of the band should arrive in the evening with a plane in Berlin to rehearse for their performance at the awards ceremony.
U2 was awarded the Bambi in the category "International Music".
The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation took over the investigation.
