U2 Fans will have to wait until 2015
What has happened to the magic? Over the last few months, it seems that the magic has left the building. U2 expected to release a new album this year with a stadium tour in the summer and it seems that the whole thing stalled out in Dublin. The album we like to call “Lucky 13” seems to be taking longer to finish and while some may say that’s ok because the whole album will capture the magic again.
Rumors suggest that the band was looking creative support on this project and this was the reason to push to 2015. Remember this is a self-imposed release date nothing official was announced.
"We've always needed collaborators to challenge us," says drummer Larry Mullen. "We're slow learners. We need to be creative, on the cutting edge, challenged, and it's really hard going, it's relentless, and we're relentless, and we have a history of breaking engineers, producers. I mean, people come out of working with U2 and just go, 'I just don't know what's happened; it feels like a lifetime has passed by.' And that's just the way we work."
Bono then added: "The album won't be ready till it's ready. However, right now, people are walking a little differently -- well, they are not walking, they are running as if to a finish line. There are a couple of songs that are part of the story we have not quite finished. We know we have to spend a couple of years taking these songs around the world, so they'd better be good."
Bono’s comments suggest a world tour will follow shortly after the release of the new project. Will it be worth the wait or have we already experienced the best that U2 has to offer? Time will tell.
