Opening Night

Vancouver:  What's better than the release of a new album?  Ask many U2 fans, and they will tell you watching their heroes perform the anthem of their youth.  The Joshua Tree Tour kicked off in Vancouver.  As reported earlier U2 has been rehearsing in Vancouver for a couple of weeks. Bono said " The City of Love" the band has enjoyed their time in Vancouver.  Leaks of the possible setlist and a pair of ear plugs for the hotel guests next door to the venue considered as standards. Our photography team all in place to capture the show.

Seems only fitting that Larry would kick off the show, walking alone playing his drum to the opening of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" which to form matched the setlist we got earlier in the evening.  Adam, Bono and The Edge joined Larry as the audience reached their fists in the air in support. The setlist was designed to take you on a journey; experience back and forth in time. Where would a U2 show be without at least one political comment? The backdrop video screen projected images during the show where "Trump, you're a liar blared from one of the characters before leading into Joshua Tree.

During "Ultra Violet" (Light My way) Bono dedicated the song to "Great women we know" and to the ones we don't know and on the screen images of Joni Mitchell and K.D.lang flashed across the screen ( both women Canadians)

Fans did get their wish for a new song. Closing the evening with "Little Things That Give You Away." was premiered.

The magic can not be put in a bottle. You can only experience it live. Fans a suggestion put your phone away and live in the moment just as you did 30 years ago.
