Concert Review
San Jose, CA — U2 kicked off the first North American date with sold out show at SAP Center on Monday. A couple of super stars in attendance, we expect we will see the “A” list crowd really show up at the LA Shows.
U2 and Silicon Valley have a tightly aligned bond that extends beyond just music; the bands own venture capital company has invested millions in the area of music technology as some other juicy projects and of course APPLE. Which some call giving the album away a miss cue while others in the music industry truly understand what U2 was doing.
Securing #1 spots on Billboard and ITunes placed U2 music in the hands that otherwise might have missed the whole album.
U2 played for two hours using their brand new stage that has the most innovative design and sound setup available today and; expected to be created again for arena touring bands. We have cover this part of the show during the opening nights in Vancouver.
The musical journey will leave rock critics questioning why. However the show is not for rock critics its for the fans. It was a night of nostalgia on many levels, the emphasis on songs from the current album and a couple of throw backs to the bands earlier years. “Out Of Control” has always had a place in true U2 fans; this is also the place that Bono introduces the band. Fans should put their phones away and really enjoy the show. Monday’s show was everything fans (true fans) expected and a bit more.
Bono and the crew finished up the show strong, charging through "Bullet the Blue Sky," "Pride (In the Name of Love)," "Beautiful Day" and "With or Without You" at the end of the second set and then returning for an encore of "City of Blinding Lights," "Where the Streets Have No Name" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."
