Concert Review

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA —

Opening night ended a bit early when The Edge walked right off the stage. Last, nights show had everyone taking a couple of jokes about the little spill. "Somebody said that the Edge had downloaded himself into the audience without asking permission," he said. "I thought that was great."

Second night with a brand new stage, new songs the band sure did not play it safe with using the same set. They mixed it up and honored B.B King playing "When Loves Come To Town" for the first time in 23 years. Hearing the tune with Bono covering all of King's lines was a sad reminder that B.B. truly is gone. "Wow," Bono said at the end. "The thrill will never be gone."

Opening the show with "The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)", and running right into “Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio” (snippet) / Vertigo cutting out “Out of Control” which was a throw back to the starting period.  “California”) There Is No End To Love) Putting on the self for now “The Troubles” which few thought it was not quite a good fit.

Mid way thru the show pretty much focused on the “B” stage the band was pretty much free form playing “ When Love Comes To Town along with “Angel of Harlem” Giving honor to B.B. King the band really did not use the video screens much.

Like most U2 concerts some fans get to connect with Bono this show was no exception, Bono reached for a fans wearing “ Mr. The Edge” t=shirt and turban and brought him on to the catwalk. Mirroring the crazy moves the fan and Bono moved to “Mysterious Ways” you thought that was crazy, next the fan picked up Bono and walked him to the “B” stage. Now if this had been planned or not this was interesting to see Bono carried like a baby and not moving or flinching the whole time.

Fans always consider encores as the last chance to hear their song. One notable item was the change out of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and in its place “One” Bono skipping the guitar parts, Edge performed great.

In closing Bono walked Edge off the stage and off to San Jose.
