Springsteen, Martin and U2 Minus Bono

The schedule called for U2 to perform at World AIDS Day (RED) performance Monday night in Times Square. However, Bono has been recovering from his earlier “High Impact Cycle” accident that has taken him out of the mix for right now.  U2 announced that the show will still go on with some help from some friends, Bruce and Chris stepped in to help the boys out. U2 posted on their Facebook page "Adam Clayton, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr. will be joined by Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, each of whom will take a turn as frontman on the U2 songs. Appearing at the personal invitation of U2, Springsteen and Martin has graciously donated their time and talents to save the World AIDS Day event from cancellation." The show has been dubbed “U2 Minus 1”

"This year is a World AIDS Day like no other," Bono said in a statement. "The world reached a tipping point in the fight against AIDS - more people were newly added to life-saving treatment than were newly infected with the virus. Many people are calling it the beginning of the end of AIDS.

"We wouldn’t be at this point without American leadership, people from the left and the right," added the singer. "Today, 13 million people have access to life-saving treatment, up from 300,000 just over ten years ago.  Americans do not know the role they have played in this fight.  This event is to inform and thank Americans for their support.

2015 is Starting to Shape up for U2 Fans

U2 Fan club fans get ready for an exclusive offer from the boys. U2 has been working on releasing a vinyl only release of their club performance back in the 80’s. This was recorded in a pretty small club with a hundred dedicated U2 fans.

We heard that the release would include ‘The Electric Co,’ ‘I Will Follow’ and ‘Out of Control’ on the road across Ireland and the UK. The full track list and the collection’s title and cover will be revealed in the next few weeks, with the album expected to ship in the spring of 2015.

Recorded in a small club, with just a few hundred passionate fans, this vintage live set captures a time when the band were taking songs like The Electric Co, I Will Follow and Out of Control on the road across Ireland and the UK .

There was no internet or digital downloading in 1980 - even the CD was still to arrive - the band's debut LP Boy was released on vinyl. In keeping with that history, and in tribute to the return of vinyl, as a U2.com subscriber you'll receive this limited edition live set on two 10" vinyl albums in a bespoke gatefold sleeve.

Like it's companion piece North Side Story, this limited edition release will not be on sale online or in store.

New subscribers have the option of choosing the double vinyl OR North Side Stories, which also comes with the poster, 'Wandering In U2's Dublin', charting the band's connection to their home city over 35 years.

As well as this limited edition gift, subscribers to U2.com gain access to distinct content on the site and are first in line for ticket presales when the band head out on tour.

11 of the world's most acclaimed urban artists unveil their work through a collection of art films, inspired by U2's Songs of Innocence. Taking the political murals of Northern Ireland as a reference point, U2 pioneered the project to celebrate the unique democratic power of urban art. Oliver Jeffers, Robin Rhode, D*Face, Mode 2, Chloe Early, Ganzeer, Vhils, Maser, ROA, DALeast, and Todd James make up this global multidisciplinary group project. Chosen for their undisputed ability to capture the imaginations of their audiences, the artists were given complete creative freedom to showcase their personal responses to U2's music, through a series of part-animated, part live action films. The result is an exhilarating display of diversity in approach, style and commentary. Powerful and cognizant, their works scale the globe, play with time, and weave between heightened reality and animated dreamscapes. United for the first time in film, the eleven international artists have taken their work from the streets to the screen. These original works of video art transpose their visions from the physical to the digital and are collected here together as a visual counter-point to the album, a set of unique and compelling Films of Innocence.

U2 2015 Tour Announcement

U2 Tour Trucks / U2TOURFANS / 2014

U2 Tour Trucks / U2TOURFANS / 2014

Many have speculated that a possible announcement was forth coming for the North American leg of the U2 Unplugged Tour 2015.  Possibly as early as this week.

Which could have been starting around May or June depending on NBA and NHL playoff schedules, U2 will be performing a scaled down arena tour with possible two nights in some locations.

Looking at the Jimmy Fallon schedule U2’s tour announcement would have been perfect timing for the band and knowing how the marketing machines operate we could have expected some announcements this week with ticket sales starting the week of November 24th a pre Thanksgiving gift for North America.

However, that would mean pre-sales starting this week. Hum now would that have been something? We guess we have to wait and see what the boys and the machine come up with next. Stay tuned for sure an announcement is forth coming.

U2 Tonight Show Appearance Postponed!

Editor Comment: Canceled or Postponed either way its not going to happen right now due to Bono's injury. We hope for a speedy recovery.

Bono arrived into NYC over the weekend and was bicycling around Central Park and next thing, MAN DOWN. Bono injured his arm to the point that he will require surgery.

This has been a challenging week for Bono.  First, the plane door falls off losing the entire luggage and now tooling around Central Park he has a wing injury.

The boys had been scheduled to appear on the “Tonight Show” for the week starting well Tonight and now that is off. On U2’s main website announcement was posted Sunday evening. "It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time -- we're one man down," said a note on the U2 website from "Edge, Adam and Larry" -- The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr.

Bono arrived from London where the band and some other starts had been recording a Christmas song that will be used to raise money for the Ebola issues in Africa.

We have been wondering about a possible tour announcement this week and now it looks like all bets are off as to when the boys will announce the up coming expected worldwide tour.
