U2 Vancouver Rehearsals

The band continued to rehearse last night as scheduled. We have already sent out the official communication in regards to the show schedule which will not change.

During the dinner break catering sent out some pizza for those in the GA line already.

Also Adam spent a few minutes with those in line prior to his departure back to the hotel.  Bono waived to the crowd and was not getting out of the SUV possible strained voice from rehearsals.

Just an FYI some fans have been using Periscope to provide some insights so far so good. We expect to see more fans to start using it on Thursday. Download our mobile app to send concert images back to everyone.

Closer than you think U2's new release ?

This is unconfirmed yet its so possible that we thought we better share the news. Within a forum on U2START.com a user named "u2lemonman" posted the following with images.

Well looking I what I have just received from a friend from London who is well connected, it looks like a release is closer than we think.

I am having trouble uploading the images so I have mailed them to the staff to help me share them with you

What we do know is that this subway photograph was taken in New York City and that the subway stop was close to ELS. We always thought the new project should be called Lucky 13. In the upper right hand corner a reference "u2luckneu01" which we do not have any idea.  Now scroll down to look at the liner notes.  This is the way promotional copies are released to statiions. HOWEVER.  Band never send the full release out on the first go around. Normally its months later.

Note the release date June 13th 2014, its this is the case its time to start the promotional tracks and interviews and U2 all the time.  So boys is this the real deal ?

Early Bono Years

Photographs documenting the gritty beginnings of U2 in the smoky pubs and clubs of 1970s Dublin are being unveiled Thursday at an exhibition in the band’s home city. Much of the exhibition by photographer Patrick Brocklebank has never been seen before.

Bono Wanted

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber is reportedly interested in hiring U2’s Bono to sit on his panel for his new ITV talent show to find the next lead in musical, Jesus Christ Superstar. Onthebox.com is reporting this long shot and while sources say its really a long short Andy has been known to pull off the impossble. So could be be calling Bono,  Judge Bono in the future ? What are your thoughts of the boys focusing on other items besides music ?

What time is it Edmonton ?

Eager fans of the Irish rock band U2 tried to earn themselves a close-up view of the band by lining up outside Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium a full day before Wednesday’s show.

Joe Ahorro of Edmonton was the first person in line. Ahorro has seen the band at least 47 times on four different continents and believes the wait is worth it. You get to see a lot of the interaction between the band members. You see them talk to each other, make jokes with each other. You see them make their little mistakes and there’s just a lot more energy with the fans at the front, I find.”

U2 to perform

JOHANNESBURG — It’s fitting that one of the most politically plugged-in rock bands is debuting its world tour in South Africa on the anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s first major rally after being released from prison, and at the same stadium where the anti-apartheid icon enthralled tens of thousands.

And it’s a coincidence, U2 members told reporters Friday before a rehearsal at the historic FNB Stadium — known as Soccer City when it hosted the World Cup opening and closing games last year, for which it underwent a major renovation.

Guitarist The Edge said he only learned the day before that Sunday’s concert fell on a historic day.

“It’s such a beautiful, poetic day,” he said.

Lead singer Bono noted that history was being made at the other end of Africa. In Egypt Friday, Hosni Mubarak resigned as president after three decades in power and weeks of pro-democracy protests.

“This continent is on fire,” Bono said, adding he hoped Egypt would benefit from leadership as visionary as Mandela’s.

The Edge added: “The real hope for Egypt is that it actually will become more democratic after this.”

Bono said Mandela and retired Cape Town Archbishop Desmond Tutu — who makes a virtual appearance in U2’s current show — have inspired his global campaigns against AIDS and poverty. Bono was planning to visit AIDS projects in South Africa between Sunday’s concert and a second one in Cape Town on Feb. 18. U2 last played in South Africa in 1998.

The band may also visit Mandela, who is 92, ailing, and retired from public life. Bono said he had been in touch and learned Mandela was doing well after being hospitalized last month with an acute respiratory infection. Bono said a visit was possible, but he would not push.

“The last thing you want to be is the visit that the great man has to endure,” he said.

The band discussed their musical and well as political heroes with reporters Friday. Bassist Adam Clayton said he would like to work with the Malian duo Amadou & Mariam, an opening act for their South African shows. Bono spoke of an early dream of having John Lennon produce their work, laughing at their naivete in their teens.

The band members, together three decades, said the secret to their longevity was friendship.

“We actually started out as friends, and then became a band,” The Edge said.
