Edge Talks Security, New Album, New Tour

New York:  The Edge in conversation with Billboard talked about show security, the new album and yes, of course, a new tour. In light of all the issues around the world, U2 has a connection with their audience ( fans) that allows them to get up close and personal. The future may have some changes, however, it's not one that the band would really want to take into consideration.

However U2 has a strong security team in place today and while we have fans may not like what the future holds security has to be top of mind for not only the artists it has to be center view for fans as well.  Further conversation with Billboard The Edge stated that the band has been putting the finishing touches on the new album which should be available by the end of the year. Yes a new tour is in the works and of course, it's too early to suggest dates or cities, just know it's on target and it will be shared soon.

U2's Runner Show, Off To Berlin Now

Stockhom: When a tour schedule is this tight the room for error tends to be very slim. The band performed their forth show last night in Stockhom and now its off to Berlin.  Right after the final downbeat the crew swung into LOAD OUT mode and startedbreaking everything down. The exit for a show this size should be about 3 hrs.

Most of the time the crew breaks a show down pretty quick because the band and most of the management has already left the building this allows to the crew to push it out the door fast.

Last nights show was the replacement for the "security breach" on Sunday and as of today still no word on who this "security guard" was or if in fact any details.  Due to the rescheduled many fans were not able to make the return and the area was pretty much empty.

All show details incl. setlist here http://www.u2gigs.com/show1942.html This show was rescheduled from 20 September 2015.

The upper deck was totally closed off and fans had a chance to push forward. Bono apologized to the fans and stated he had no idea how many fans really traveled to Stockhom to see them.

The set list had a couple of returns "The Electric Co", "Desire" and "Angel Of Harlem"  and to wrap up the evening "Bad" and "40"

U2 Show Security

Gavin Pike is proud to be representing Rotorua on an international stage.

The social worker and security guard will be part of a Rotorua team providing security at U2’s New Zealand concerts.

The Irish rockers will be performing two shows at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium, with the first one tonight.

Mr Pike works for a Rotorua-based company called Venue Response Limited.

“There is about 40 of us going up to Auckland to do security for the show,” he said. “It is great to help out at such a high-profile event.”

Mr Pike said it was exciting to be a part of a big international show. “As far as I am aware, I will be providing on-stage security during the concert.”

He said this role could change if needed. “I will be helping with monitoring the crowd and containing issues that may present.”

Mr Pike said he had worked at several music concerts, but U2 was definitely the biggest act.

“We worked at a show when a gangsta rapper came to Rotorua. We had to do weapon checks and the removal of gang patches,” he said.

“This show would have a completely different atmosphere and those are issues we wouldn’t expect to deal with.”

As security guards, the workers didn’t get to see the show but Mr Pike said there would still be a good atmosphere at the stadium.
